For the majority of the last century, Las Vegas has been the global home of gambling. Poker lovers worldwide see Vegas as their Mecca. The city is known for many hotels and casinos, welcoming thousands of tourists year after year.
Despite Vegas’ monopoly on the American and global gambling industry, the scene has changed with the emergence of Macau. It has been a gambling hotspot for tourists for the better part of the last 20 years. Their number means that it is now home to some of the world’s biggest and best casinos.
The infographic below by casinosites.me.uk shows that, after nearly a century of dominance, Vegas may finally have to share the limelight, as more and more gamblers and tourists are favoring Macau as their preferred gambling destination.
However, Macau is still behind Vegas regarding infrastructure and visitors. The latter has over 100 active casinos at the moment, with a lot more poker houses as well. Macau, on the other hand, has only 49 casinos and about 60-70% the number of visitors enjoyed by Vegas.
Macau, however, can boast of better accommodation options. There are over 30,000 guest rooms, which is almost double the number of available accommodation in Vegas. But with so many casinos and licensed gambling homes, Vegas is certainly the place for diverse gambling options, while Macau offers more traditional options to its guests.
Both cities are unique and offer very different experiences. People visiting Vegas can expect to have a lot of fun, parties, and entertainment shows. Gamblers going to Macau can expect much more serious gambling sessions than in Vegas and more tea and Coca-Cola compared to the alcohol that they will be served in the US city.
In conclusion, both cities will offer a great deal of fun to all guests. Gambling in Vegas has been the norm for a long time, but the emergence of Macau means that its place as the gambling capital of the world may be under threat.
